Acceptable Use Policy

A subscription is a licence for one person to read and use the ledger for their own research and decisions, including the decisions they make on behalf of their employer or clients. You may quote a record in your own work, cite a figure in a memo, and act on what you find without asking us.

What it does not buy is the right to republish the compilation. The difference is between using the research and becoming a second source of it.

Accounts are individual. Sharing credentials, rotating one login between colleagues, or providing access through a shared inbox is a breach of these terms and of the subscription agreement.

You may not resell, syndicate, republish or systematically redistribute paid content, whether free of charge or not. Forwarding a weekly report to a colleague who has their own account is fine; forwarding it to a distribution list is not.

Where a team needs access, ask us about additional seats rather than sharing one.

Scripted or automated collection of paid content — crawling, scraping, bulk downloading, or driving the interface programmatically to extract records at scale — is not permitted. Export exists for the legitimate version of this need and is subject to the limits published on the pricing page.

Rate limits protect the service for everyone. Attempting to evade them, by rotating accounts or addresses or otherwise, is treated as abuse.

We do not currently offer a data feed or a public API. If you need one, ask; the answer may be yes, but it will be a commercial conversation rather than something to arrange with a script.

We welcome reports of security problems and will not pursue anyone who finds one in good faith, tells us privately, and gives us a reasonable chance to fix it before saying anything publicly.

That protection does not extend to accessing other members’ data, degrading the service for others, or extracting paid content and calling it research. Test against your own account.

Most breaches get a warning and a conversation, because most are misunderstandings about seat sharing rather than bad faith.

Redistribution at scale, automated extraction, and attempts to reach another member’s data do not get a warning. We suspend the account and, where the terms provide for it, end the subscription without a refund for the remaining period.

A suspended account keeps everything it has saved and may contact support to appeal. Suspension is not deletion.

This document describes how the service currently operates. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel and must be before the service accepts live payments.
